<aside> 💵 The economic value of the Fruitfully app amounts to a total of $15,792,005,458 in one year.

Directly related costs from consumer savings will save 22% of the total and 78% will be saved due to indirect costs such as preventing greenhouse gas emissions, eating more homemade meals, and landfill costs.

By preventing waste at the consumer level, $3,407,190,422 will be saved due to dramatically reducing household food spoilage, over-preparing, and date label confusion (Kiel, 2017; WRAP, 2021). This number was obtained by multiplying 80% by $1766 (Janus, 2019) and then by 2,411,658 (Q2.4).

Eating an extra homemade meal each week rather than eating out saves an individual $1865.76 a year so Canadians will save $12,186,349,000 (Wood, 2016).

By saving the transportation of food that would otherwise be wasted, $99,233,018 will be saved as it costs the Canadian economy $50 per ton of CO2 produced (Gillingham, 2019). Our app will prevent 1,984,660.364 tonnes of food waste from going to landfills (Q1.3) and since it costs $50 to process a tonne of compostable materials (Calgary.ca, 2021), Fruitfully will save another $99,233,018 each year by preventing unnecessary compost processing.
